Volume I No. 7 - August 2007 |
New England Voice-over Potluck & Cookout. MCM Voices hosted a gathering of New England voice-over artists and their families on the 28th of July. Voice talent from Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts were respresented. Despite torrential rain we had an absolute blast, with a lot of shop talk and laughter and culminating in a music fest that included keyboard, guitar, tenor sax, clarinet, fiddle, banjo, drums, double bass and vocals. I have no doubt this sort of gathering will occur again, probably oftener than annually. If you're from the New England area and would like to be included in future such events drop me a line and I'll make it happen.

Microphone sale. The Rode NT-1A was quickly sold to one of my newsletter readers. The Audio Technica 4060 sale is being handled by AuctionPal, for whom I have done a number of narration jobs (I'm the voice of their telephone system and their tutorial). The new microphone, a Lawson L47 FET, is supposed to arrive today!

MCM News
a few highlights
The month of July was one of the busiest ever at MCM Voices.
New clients. This month I was pleased to welcome several new clients: Leave Me On Hold creates on-hold messages designed both to inform and entertain callers, a welcome change from phone systems that frustrate, bore or drive potential customers "mental". Even if humor doesn't sell, I'd much rather listen to this company's creations than just about any other I've heard as an on-hold victim!
VP Audio also creates enjoyable on hold messaging. They may not entertain with humor, but their message productions are certainly informative. Since many of their clients are in the aviation industry, I learned a great deal just from my first job with this company.
I'm also pleased to welcome new clients Charles River Media Group of Brookline, MA, Bully Films of Chicago, and Satyam Computer Services, Ltd. of India.
"Old" clients. You know who you are. Thank-you so much for continuing to place your trust in me to provide the voice for your projects, month after month and year after year. I appreciate your business! |

Avian clue narrows down location of Springfield!!!! At the very end of the new Simpsons Movie, a lone bird song can be heard. It's the voice of the Bobolink, Dolichonyx oryzivorus. There may be a Springfield in every state in the U.S., but Bobolinks only breed in some of those states. See this map of the summer distribution of the Bobolink to see how many states may be out of the running!
